Pennsylvania Railroad passenger E8 #4255 wears the final tuscan red simple paint scheme just before the railroad merged into Penn-Central (1968) and tuscan red units were repainted black. The large PC-style numbers toward the rear are the tipe tip-off.

Union Pacific twin-engine U50 #47 was GE´s entry into the railroad´s high-horsepower race of the late 1960´s. Riding on 16 wheels, the pugnose 5000 hp brute was quite a sight. UP owned 23, Southern Pacific 3, and that was all she wrote. Photo from 1960.
